TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of foreign and domestic journalists visited the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School that has applied a modern learning system. Their visit was under an event called Reporting Religion in Asia, hosted by The International Association of Religion Journalist (IARJ).
“I am happy to visit this Islamic Boarding School that is very much inclusive in accepting everyone with open arms in the midst of a rise of extremist groups on behalf of religion,” said the Editor for The Statesman India, Uday Basu, on Thursday, October 19.
The event involved Indonesian Journalists, lecturers, minority group representative speaker. Other public figures who participated in the discussion on the Indonesian Islam and Democracy was Wahid Foundation Director Yenny Wahid, Muhammadiyah General Secretary Abdul Mu’ti and a member of the Indonesian Ulama Council Syafiq Hasyim.
The conference mostly talked about how journalists cover the issue of religion and were actively interacting with the boarding school students, teachers, and religious teacher.
