TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Race team Gresini Moto2 appointed Indonesian Dimas Ekky Pratama to replace Jorge Navarro who was involved in an accident at the previous race at the Phillip Island Circuit last weekend.
“Navarro wants to be replaced by Indonesian Dimas Ekky Pratama who is currently racing in the Spanish CEV Moto2 championship,” as quoted from an official press release by Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 on Wednesday, October 25.
This means that Dimas Ekky will start his international-level Moto2 debut in Sepang Malaysia this weekend.
The 25-year-old racer from Depok is currently in the sixth position at the Spanish National CEV Moto2 Championship Standings after finishing on the podium once during the 2017 season.
Jorge Navarro underwent surgery on Monday morning in Melbourne. Navarro crashed out early on in last weekend's Phillip Island round, damaging the ligament in the fourth finger of his left hand.
The 21-year-old Valencian will be fit to leave the hospital today and will immediately return to Europe tomorrow for rehabilitation. His recovery is expected to last between two to three weeks before returning to the team’s home race in Valencia.
