TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2018 will showcase 7 select designers, namely Danjyo Hiyoji, Réves Studio, Pvra, At The Studio, Mazuki, Etterette by Vivian Lee and Kami.
The JFW will continue to build the capacity of Indonesian designers by launching the Indonesia Fashion Forward (IFF) program.
The young designer incubation program has been held by JFW, the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), British Council and the Center for Fashion Enterprise since 2012.
Participated by dozens of designers, the program is a key asset to Indonesia’s fashion industry as it provides opportunities to new talents as well as allows the local creative industry to flourish.
“Through the IFF program, designers’ ability to strengthen Indonesia’s fashion industry is being improved in a bid to expand the global market reach and attract international buyers,” JFW chair Svida Alisjahbana said on Saturday.
The IFF has so far selected 40 Indonesian labels and designers through a competitive selection and curation process.
The labels and designers who have joined the IFF include Major Minor, Tex Saverio, Yosafat Dwi Kurniawan. Dian Pelangi, Albert Yanuar, Patrick Owen, Toton, Peggy Hartanto, Jii by Gloria Agatha, Billy Tjong, Norma Hauri, Yelly, l.K.Y.K, Rani Hatta, Bateeq, Novita Yunus, Jenahara.
The success and rapid development of businesses of the IFF graduates have attracted partners, both at home and abroad, to collaborate.
In April and May 2017, for example, as many as 12 IFF designers showcased their best collection at French premium department store Galeries Lafayette in Jakarta through Fashion Lab program.
