YLKI Urges BNI to Return Costumers` Deducted Money

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Consumers Foundation (YLKI) has urged state-owned lender Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) to immediately return Rp1,000 reduced from the customers’ balances due to their system maintenance.

"BNI has to return the reduction as soon as possible," YLKI executive chairman Tulus Abadi stated on Friday evening, Oct 20.

YLKI believes that the bank owes their customers an apology due to the incident since the error is on their part.

BNI released an apology for the incident and will expedite the return of the reduction to the inflicted customers due to system maintenance for future saving program Tapenas SiMuda.

BNI Secretary Kiryanto explained the chronology of the Rp1,000 reduction to customers’ balance. BNI was setting parameter for their new savings program, Tapenas SiMuda. This product was charged with Rp1,000 fee.

However, Kiryanto continued, the parameter setting affected other saving products. BNI confirmed that this incident was not caused by a hack.
