TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Virgin Australia Transport will open a new flight route to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara in a bid to boost the tourism sector in the region.
“Our participation in ‘Komodo Travel Mart 2017’ is aimed at collecting information on a plan to open a flight route of Virgin Australia Transport to NTT,” Virgin Australia Manager for Indonesia Farshal Hambali said yesterday.
He said that the airline has expanded in the region due to its huge market potential. “There are a lot of Australian tourists who go on a vacation to NTT,” Hambali said. Virgin Australia Transport is the second largest airline in the continent.
Australia-Kupang flight route, according to Hambali, will increase foreign tourist arrivals in the province. He said that NTT people who live in Darwin, Australia, represent a potential market for Virgin Australia Transport. “On Christmas Day, NTT people who live in Australia prefer to celebrate the holiday in NTT.”
“We expect that Virgin Australia flight route to NTT can materialize by 2018,” Hambali said.
