TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Telecommunications services and network provider Indosat Ooredoo guarantees that customer’s private data will be safe following the implementation of the government policy requiring customers to register their prepaid SIM card data upon purchasing
“We will ultimately secure our customer data records. The security we that provide is ISO-certified,” said Indosat Secretary Deva Rachman on Friday, October 13.
Deva said that the Government’s latest policy on prepaid SIM registration should be positively welcomed by the public considering that it would protect customers from identity frauds.
“We think this is a great step to take since it provides a sense of business certainty,” said Deva.
He reasons that SIM card registration will allow better feedback for corporations regarding its customers.
The latest government policy is regulated under Communications and Information Ministry’ Regulation No 14/2017, which is a revision to Regulation No 12/2016 on the telecommunication service user registrations.
The requirement to register prepaid SIM cards will be effective starting from October 31. New or existing customers who refuse to register will have their number blocked.
