TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Batam Aero Technic, a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company owned by Lion Air Group, is eyeing an expansion in Europe by seeking certification from European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
BAT General Manager for Logistics Dedeng Ahmadi said that having secured the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in July, the company is seeking Europe certification to fly above the continent.
Dedeng elaborated that to secure the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification, Lion Air Group has to make a lot of improvements as it has more complex requirements than the FAA.
Founded in 2014, BAT is a maintenance, repair and overhaul center for Aircraft Service, Engine Service, Landing Gear Service and Component Service built by Lion Air Group on 40,000 square meters of land.
As of now, BAT hangar can accommodate 12 narrow-body and 4 wide-body aircraft. BAT can also accommodate other types of airplane, such as Boeing 737-300/400/500/600/700/800/900 ER, ATR 72-500/600, and DHC 8.
Going forward, BAT will also provide service to A320 NEO and CEO, A330, Boeing 737 MAX and Eurocopter E3135.
Lion Air Group has to make a lot of improvements to secure the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification.
