TEMPO.CO, Palembang - The National Police headquarters decided to evaluate the use of firearms by police members throughout Indonesia. The decision was made following an incident involving three Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) members in a mine pit in Blora, Central Java, on Tuesday, October 10.
“We will hold an evaluation whenever an incident occurred,” said Police Spokesman Brig. Gen. Rikwanto in Palembang, South Sumatra today.
The three Brimob personnel who lost their lives to the shooting in Blora were Brigadier Budi Wibowo (30), Brigadier Ahmad Supriyanto (35), and Chief Agent Bambang Tejo (36). An AK101 was found at the crime scene.
A previous incident involving the misuse of firearms happened on Monday at Musi Banyuasin. It is where Second Brigadier Azan Fikri was found dead in his car with a bullet wound on his head while his right hand was still clutching the gun.
Rikwanto said that Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has ordered Central Java Police Chief Gen. Condro Kirono to conduct an investigation into the deaths of the three Brimob personnel in Blora.
