TEMPO.CO, Lebak - Tourists spending their weekend holiday are urged to not swim along the South Beach of Lebak due to high tidal waves and strong winds.
The warning was given by Lebak Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Kaprawi on Saturday (7/10). Some time ago, a movie crew was drifted by tidal wave and died.
BPBD Lebak urged visitors to not swim Binuangeun, Bagedur, Panggarangan, Pulau Manuk, Sukahujan, Cihara, Bayah, Ciantir and Sawarna beaches. "Please obey our warning in order to prevent accidents," Kaprawi said.
Based on a report from Banten Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the height of the waves of the South Sea of Lebak ranges from 2.0 to 3.0 meters. Meanwhile, the average velocity of the wind is 24 kilometers per hour. The wind blowing from southeast ranges from 3 to 12 knots.
The weather in South Beach of Lebak directly facing Hindia Ocean has a different character from the beach in North Banten. The tidal waves are high and there are a lot of coral reefs in the area.
