Japan Provides Rp2.3tn Fund for Bekasi-Cikarang Electric Train

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The operation of Bekasi-Cikarang electric train (KRL) in West Java was funded by a loan from Japanese government with the amount Rp2.3 trillion as a bilateral agreement of the two countries to boost economy in Indonesia.
"Today KRL Bekasi-Cikarang and East Bekasi Station have been officiated and they are supported by security, safety, and convenience facilities," Transport Ministry Train Director General Umiyatun Hayati Triastuti said in Bekasi on Saturday (7/10).
After officiating the operation of East Bekasi Train Station located on Ir H Djuanda street, East Bekasi and the first operation supervised by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, she said that this Bekasi-Cikarang project is the result of cooperation between Indonesian government and Japanese government.
The project, she continued, was realized through B1Package Contract for Bekasi-Cikarang train electrification which was signed in 2012.
