TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Flash floods from river overflow inundated hundreds of houses spread across a number of districts in Pangandaran Regency, West Java on Saturday, Oct. 7.
"Pangandaran was not only hit by a landslide but also floods," Pangandaran Fire and Disaster Mitigation Agency head Nana Ruhena said on Saturday.
He stated that residential houses in Sidomulih, Kalipucang, Cijulang, and Parigi districts were inundated.
The flash floods, Nana continued, resulted from heavy rain on Friday and the river could not contain the water and it overflowed.
He explained that the residents inflicted have been displaced to emergency tents set up by the government. They will stay in the tents after the floods subside.
He added the floods have blocked village and district road access, and as a result, it impedes both evacuation and monitoring.
