TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is optimistic that the 2018 Asian Games renovation projects at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, will be complete by the end of this year.
“We have observed the location together with Vice President Jusuf Kalla,” said Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono on Wednesday, October 4.
The ministry claims that the aquatics stadium will be ready for use in October, meanwhile, the renovation of the sports palace will be complete in November. The GBK main stadium, training facilities, indoor and outdoor tennis court, softball, basketball, and baseball courts will be complete in December.
“Meanwhile, the hockey pitch and football court have been completed,” said Minister Basuki. The sports arena will also be ready to be mandatory tested by the Asian Sports Council heading towards the 2018 Asian Games that will be held on February 10-18, 2018.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has spent Rp1.77 trillion for the renovation of 15 Asian Games sporting arenas.
