Mt. Agung Eruption: Thousands of Balinese Join Mass Prayers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Udayana IX Regional Military District Command (Kodam IX) along with thousands of Bali residents held a prayer for their safety from Mt. Agung eruption in Bazra Sandhifield in Renon, Denpasar, on Saturday (30/9).
"This joint prayer across all religions is intended to ask for safety from Mt. Agung eruption," Udayana Military Commander Maj. Gen. Komaruddin said.
In addition to getting all community members involved, the joint prayer was also attended by religious figures across religions, thousands of students and members of National Military (TNI) and the police.
Religious figures of Hindu, Islam, Catholic, Protestant, Buddha, and Kong Hu Cu took turns to lead the prayer.
"Through this joint prayer, it is expected that Bali residents can gain strength to overcome this disaster," he continued.
