TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta State University (UNJ) Rector Prof. Djaali has been suspended over fraudulent doctoral program, said Jamal Wiwoho, the Inspector General of Research, Technology and High Education Ministry.
Jamal added that UNJ Postgraduate Program Director Moch Asmawi has also been handed down the same sanction.
“They have been suspended over faults in the management of postgraduate programs,” Jamal told Tempo in a phone interview today.
UNJ Rector Djaali has come under public scrutiny in recent months over alleged fraudulent doctoral program.
Irregularities were found in the campus that is located in East Jakarta, including manipulation of registration number, presence lists, unusually short courses, doctoral advisers that were allowed to handle dozens of students and plagiarism in final projects.
UNJ Alumni Forum spokesman Ide Bagus Arif said that the High Education Ministry has made a right decision and expect it to process the case that implicates the university rector Djaali.
