TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and Japan have come to an agreement that three transportation projects will be completed on time.
“We have been in intensive communications with Japan related to three projects, namely MRT, Patimban Port, and the Jakarta-Surabaya High-Speed Train project,” Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in Bali today, Sept. 27.
Budi attended a meeting with the Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism Takao Makino and discuss the three projects on the sidelines of the Asia Europe Meeting Transport Minister Meeting (ASEM TMM) in Denpasar, Bali.
“Japan has agreed that MRT will be fully operational in March 2019, and Patimban Port will be opened as scheduled. All issues have been resolved,” he added.
Budi hopes that the fund for the Patimban Port development project will be disbursed in October. “The tender will be held in December or January,” he said.
Minister Makino hopes that the cooperation will strengthen the ties between Indonesia and Japan. Makino said that the Japanese government will support programs and projects initiated by both countries so that they can provide benefits for both countries.
