TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) launched a document on the ISIS-affiliated terrorist funding network in Indonesia. The document is aimed to be a reference for government institutions to fight terrorism in the country.
During the document launch today in Jakarta, BNPT head Comr. Gen. Suhardi Alius said the funds raised by terrorist groups in Indonesia were used to procure weapons and explosives, “as well as to build a network.”
Suhardi added that the document specifically maps the ISIS-affiliated terrorist network funding. Ahmad Badaruddin, head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), who attended the event said the document would be useful to understand the conflict that occurred in Syria and Iraq and its global impact.
Also attending the document launch were representatives from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the National Police’s Counter Terrorism Squad, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the Social Ministry.

According to Suhardi, terrorism is a serious crime and preventable. “Hopefully we can break the chain so that there will be no more terrorist funding,” Suhardi said.
