TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police chief Insp. Gen. Idham Azis guarantees that his institution is ready to secure two rallies to be launched on Wednesday and Friday this week.

“No [threats against the security. We always prepare forces to secure Jakarta,” Idham said at his office in Jakarta today, Sept. 26.

He explained that the first rally would be launched by the Agrarian Reform National Committee to commemorate the Agriculture Day. The association has planned to conduct the rally in the State Palace area.

According to Idham about 5,000 people will participate in the rally. He claimed that he would deploy about 7,000 police personnel to secure the rally.

The second rally is related to the bill on mass organizations. The rally was initiated by former participants of the Defend Islam Rally held on December 2, 2016. About 15,000 people are expected to participate in the rally. In a bid to secure the rally, Idham will deploy 20,000 personnel.

Idham said that the rally would be launched at the House of Representatives (DPR) to demand the revocation of the bill on mass organizations, express rejections against the Indonesia Communist Party, and to raise other issues.

Idham called on rally participants to maintain order and peace.
