TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Juhanda, the perpetrator of Samarinda church bomb attack in East Kalimantan has been sentenced to life in prison. The sentence handed down in September 25 hearing was what had been sought by prosecutors.
Aside from Juanda, the panel of judges also sentenced four other bombers to prison, namely Supriyadi, 6 years in prison; Joko Sugito, 7 years in prison; Ahmad Dani 6 years and 8 months in prison, and Rahmat, 6 years and 8 months in prison.
The bomb thrown by the perpetrators in November last year injured four children at Oikumene Church in Samarinda City. A child named Intan Olivia Banjarnahor suffered severe burn injury and died shortly after the incident, while others still need to receive treatment.
Witnesses and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK) deputy chief Edwin Partogi said that the judges of East Jakarta District Court also ruled in favor of the victims for a compensation amounting to Rp237 million. The prosecutors earlier sought Rp1.4 billion compensation based on the LPSK recommendation.
