ASEAN Para Games 2017: Indonesia Dominates Weightlifting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has paved its way in becoming the weightlifting champion at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was confirmed during the last day of the competition on Thursday, Sept. 21, that Indonesia obtained two gold and two silver medals.
The two gold medals add Indonesia’s gold medal collection to seven from the total of 19 gold medals. Indonesia also won four silver medals, which is the highest compared to other countries.
Indonesian weightlifter coach Coni Ruswanta admits that he is pleased with the achievement. “Thank god, we succeeded to receive the predicate of the best ASEAN Para Games 2017. This is all thanks to the hard work from the athletes, support from everyone, and the implementation of a perfect strategy,” he said.
The two gold medals were obtained by lifter Ni Nengah Widiasih in the women’s 86 kilograms and Anton Boi in the men’s 88 kilograms class. Ni Nengah has become the best lifter with the best record of 95 kilograms. It broke the previous record of lifting 80 kilograms at the ASEAN Para Games in Singapore last year that also under her name.
Two silver medals were achieved by Sriyanti from the women’s +86 kilograms weight class and Atmaji Priambodo at the 97 kilograms class.
