Asmaniah, Wife of Former Vice President Hamzah Haz, Passes Away

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Asmaniah alias Nani, wife of former vice president Hamzah Haz, passed away aged 75 on Tuesday morning.

With Hamzah Haz, Asmaniah had nine children. Her passing has been confirmed by the United Development Party (PPP) Secretary-General Arsul Sani.

“Yes, it’s true. She passed away at 3 or 4 in the morning,” Arsul said.

Asmaniah accompanied vice president Hamzah Haz during the Megawati Soekarnoputri administration from 2001 to 2004. Hamzah also served as the coordinating minister for people’s welfare and poverty eradication in 1999 and Indonesia’s investment state minister in 1998-1999. Moreover, he chaired the PPP for the 1998-2007 term.
