Jakarta Administration to Widen Sudirman, Thamrin Sidewalks

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta administration will widen the sidewalks on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan M.H. Thamrin.
Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that the sidewalk project will commence in early October.

The sidewalks will be widened for cyclists and will also be used by street vendors on certain occasions.
“One lane will be appropriated for bikes in some locations and others will become places for youths to hang out but not on a permanent basis,” Djarot said.
The sidewalks to be widened will include those in HI Roundabout and Bendungan Hilir (Benhil) Roundabout. “After an auction, construction might start in Benhil,” Djarot said.
