TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mitra Keluarga Hospital director Francisca Dewi has extended her apology and condolences over the death of four-year old baby Debora.
“We will refund the treatment costs spent by the family to treat Debora in the ICU of Mitra Keluarga Hospital,” Dewi told a press conference on September 11, at Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Jakarta. She added that the charges for hospital services should have been covered by the BPJS (Social Security).
Baby Debora was not treated well since Mitra Keluarga Hospital does not receive BPJS patients. The baby died when her parents tried to find another hospital.

Mitra Keluarga spokeswoman Nendya Libriyani said that there is no significant difference in treatment between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Mitra Keluarga Hospital.
Nendya confirmed that the hospital decided to refer the patient to another hospital that partnered with the BPJS. The parents had agreed with the decision, she said.
Earlier, Mitra Keluarga Hospital has said that it was not aware that the patient, baby Debora, was enrolled in the BPJS. “We did not know that the patient was a BPJS beneficiary because when the patient was admitted to the ICU, the patient’s [parents] had not contacted the administration department,” Nendya said.
