TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) vice chief Saut Situmorang said that the Legal Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) has posed six questions that would be answered in today’s hearing. He promises that the KPK will answer all the questions.
He said that the KPK sees the hearing as a legitimate forum. The appearance of the KPK in the hearing would rebuff accusations that the agency was not willing to be monitored or be criticized. “It’s only a matter of location and time; when and where to talk,” Saut told Tempo on Sunday.

The hearing between the KPK and the DPR Commission III is scheduled for today amid the inquiry into the KPK by the DPR special committee. The KPK has so far never acknowledged the existence of the special committee. The KPK leadership is awaiting the judicial review filed by the anti-graft agency on the legal basis of the establishment of the special committee based on the Law on Legislative Bodies (MD3 Law).
Saut said that the DPR has sent six questions to be answered today on law enforcement, prevention, protection of witnesses and reporting parties, coordination and supervision, confiscated items management and evidence management.
The DPR Legal Commission Bambang Soesatyo said that today’s hearing will see the KPK’s explanation on its recent performances. The House will also demand an explanation from the KPK investigation director Aris Budiman’s statement conveyed to the KPK inquiry committee. Aris attended the hearing with the committee without the leadership consent.
“It’s an important thing to do for monitoring and evaluation. As a partner, the Commission III is concerned with the KPK’s internal condition,” Bambang said. The Golkar Party politician expects the KPK to explain the measures to address internal conflict in the agency.
