TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is scheduled to question the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto as a suspect today in the electronic identity cards (e-KTP) graft case. The House Speaker will be interrogated for the first time since being named as a suspect on July 17.
Setya is the fourth suspect in the corruption case that caused Rp2.3 trillion in state losses. Two first two suspects—Irman and Sugiharto, former home affairs ministry officials—have been sent to 7 and 5 years in prison, respectively, for being found guilty on corruption charges in the Rp5.84 trillion project. The third suspect, businessman Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong, is currently being indicted at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

The KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah expects Setya to appear at the KPK building for questioning as a suspect. “The public can see his legal compliance because summons were served appropriately,” he said. Febri declined to comment on the possibility of detaining Novanto once the questioning completed.
The spokesman confirmed that the questioning would not be affected by a pre-trial motion filed by Setya Novanto.
Golkar Party Secretary General Idrus Marham said that Setya Novanto had received the KPK summons and had planned to appear at the KPK Building for questioning.
