TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) executive chairman Tulus Abadi stated that the new rate formulation of Jagorawi Toll is unfair. State-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga has changed the rate with one rate policy or flat rate starting Friday, September 8.
Tulus added that the flat rate should be audited and transparent. Do not let the change of the rate, he continued, becomes an excuse for hidden charges. "If the income from Jagorawi toll road increases, then there is an increase of hidden rate. This is against the regulation," he said on Friday.
In addition, the rate formulation of Jagorawi toll seems unfair since it imposes higher charges on toll road users on a short distance including TMII, Cibubur, and Sentul gates. What is worse, the rate of Jakarta-Bogor toll will be too cheap. "Bogor Gate only costs Rp6,500."
People will abandon Jagorawi toll, turn to Jakarta-Bogor toll, and use cars instead of commuter line causing heavier traffic to Jakarta, he emphasized.
