TEMPO.CO, Cilacap - As many as 48 villages in 14 districts in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, are predicted to be affected by drought and lack of water, Cilacap Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPPD) acting head Tri Komara said.
"Based on our prediction, 48 villages across 14 districts in Cilacap are prone to drought and clean water crisis," he said in Cilacap on Saturday, September 9.
He stated that the prediction is based on the results of mapping the areas affected by drought and clean water crisis during the long drought of 2015.
Meanwhile in 2017, he continued, based on the latest data until September 7, 20 villages in eight districts have been affected by drought and clean water crisis.
"Until September 7, we have distributed clean water for the residents of the 20 villages as many as 85 water tanks," he said.
He estimated the number of villages affected by drought and clean water crisis will continue to increase since based on the forecast from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, dry season will continue until October.
