Police Question KPK Investigators over Novel Baswedan`s Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators attended police questioning as witnesses in relation to an allegation of defamation involving KPK senior investigator Novel Baswedan.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono revealed that there were three KPK investigators being questioned today. “They were accompanied by the KPK Legal Bureau,” Argo told Tempo today, September 6.

The investigators arrived at noon and directly went to the Jakarta Police’s Special Crime Investigation Unit building. The results of the questioning have not been disclosed yet.
Earlier, Jakarta Police’s Special Crime Unit director Adi Deriyan said that he had coordinated with the anti-graft commission in relation to the summonses.
In addition to the three investigators, the Jakarta Police had questioned Aris Budiman, who filed the police report, and a number of former investigators. The case has been escalated to an investigation stage, but Adi said that no suspect has been named yet.
Earlier on August 13, Aris Budiman filed a report with the Jakarta Police against Novel for an alleged defamation. Aris said that he was offended with an email sent by Novel in relation to the regulation of the recruitment of KPK investigators from police institutions.
