TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police claimed that the distribution of negative content on the internet has significantly decreased following the crackdown on hate speech group Saracen.
“Since the arrests, negative internet content have dropped by 50 percent,” the National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said yesterday in Jakarta.
The police have arrested four individuals in this case. They are now investigating the alleged involvement of two other individuals.

Martinus said that he received the report about decreasing number of negative content from the police cyber directorate. “We always monitor hate speech, hoaxes that are widely shared [on the internet],” he said.
“It’s safe to say that negative content commonly found on the internet had been produced by the Saracen group,” the spokesman said, adding that it might also have declined since other groups had stopped sharing negative content after the crackdown on the group.
The police continue to investigate individuals allegedly responsible for running Saracen. “We are investigating everything, from the benefactors to those allegedly involved in Saracen structure to financial transactions during Saracen activities,” Martinus said.
