TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned carrier Garuda Indonesia will serve the Manado - Luwuk route in a bid to expand its domestic flight network, particularly in east Indonesia. The opening of the new route is also aimed at boosting the number of tourists and business travelers visiting the two cities.

“The Manado-Luwuk flight route will be served four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, starting from September 15, 2017,” Garuda Indonesia spokesperson Ikhsan Rosan said yesterday, August 30.

The flight will be served on Bombardier CRJ 1000 NextGen with a capacity of 96 passengers. Ikhsan explained that the airplane will take off from Manado at 07:25 Central Indonesia Time and land in Luwuk at 08:20 Central Indonesia Time. Meanwhile, the flight from Luwuk will be served at 13:00 Central Indonesia Time and is scheduled to land in Manado at 14:00 Central Indonesia Time.

With the new flight route, Garuda now serves 66 flights every week from Manado to Jakarta, Denpasar, Gorontalo, Sorong, Jayapura, Timika, Ternate, and Makassar.

Earlier in July, Garuda Indonesia opened several flight routes in east Indonesia, namely the Makassar-Raha and Kendari-Bau Bau routes. The flights are served using ATR 72-600 with a capacity of 70 passengers.
