Govt to Issue Bill to Simplify Investment Permit Application

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has drafted a new bill aimed at simplifying the investment permit application. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said the endeavor to simplify the investment permit application involves two stages.
The first stage is to form a task force that will address permit application obstacles. According to Darmin, the task force will be formed as soon as President Joko Widodo or Jokowi signs the government regulation. Darmin revealed that there will be two main task forces governed in the new bill, namely the National Taskforce and the Leading Sector Taskforce.
The National Taskforce will be assigned to coordinate all task forces at the national and regional levels. Meanwhile, the Leading Sector Taskforce will be assigned to address issues hampering the permit application process.
The second stage, Darmin went on, is to realize a reform in business permit regulations at the national and regional levels. The government, he said will also implement an integrated permit system (single submission).
With the issuance of the new government regulation on business acceleration, Darmin said, the business permit application process would not take years to complete.
