President Jokowi to Lead Independence Carnival in Bandung

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will lead Pesona Parahyangan Independence Carnival held in Bandung.
Along with the first lady Iriana Widodo and staff, Jokowi departed to Bandung on Saturday, August 26, at 11:20 in the morning from Halim Perdanakusuma Airforce Base in Jakarta by using Indonesia-1 Presidential aircraft.
Arrived in Bandung at 11:45, President Jokowi will attend and kicks off 2017 Pesona Parahyangan Independence Carnival with the theme "Nyalakan Api Semangat Kerja Bersama (Light up the Spirit of Collaboration)" which is part of the 72nd Indonesian Independence Day activities.
This carnival involves a number of communities, not only those from Bandung and West Java, but also from cities regularly holding international carnivals such as Jember Fashion Carnival, Solo Batik Carnival, and Tomohon International Flower Festival.
Independence Carnival was proposed by President Jokowi who wishes to hold alternating carnival from one region to another, not only in Jakarta in order to equally share the excitement of Independence across all regions in Indonesia.
