TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police continue to investigate the online syndicate accused of creating and spreading hate speech for money, Saracen. Investigators are now tracking down the people or organizations that made orders to be published by Saracen.
The head of the police's cyber patrol task force Sr. Comr. Susatyo Purnomo said on Thursday, August 24, these buyers received proposals from Saracen. The proposals listed packages of online contents that incite hatred along with their prices. If the price is agreed, the prepared content will be uploaded through the syndicate's accounts.

According to Susatyo, Saracen will continue uploading the contents for several months depending on the agreement. "Usually up to six months," he told Tempo.
Saracen will then make sure that the posts will flood social media until they become viral or for as long as the buyer wants.
In addition to distributing proposal, Susatyo said that the hate speech group also receives direct orders from certain buyers. The police cannot reveal who they are yet.
"We need time to investigate," Susatyo said.
The police have found some 800,000 active social media accounts owned and managed by Saracen. These accounts will start working on uploading hate-inciting contents as soon as they get and order.
The police have arrested three of Saracen's group leaders: Muhammad Faizal Tanong, Jasriadi, and Sri Rahayu Ningsih. They are being charged with the Electronic Information and Transactions Law.
