TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TB Hasanuddin, deputy chairman of the House of Representatives’ Commission I, alleged that certain individuals had financed recently-exposed hate speech syndicate Saracen. Hasanuddin claimed in addition to money, the group is motivated by a goal to disintegrate the nation.
“There have to be financial backers. There’s no way Saracen spread hate speech without costs,” Hasanuddin said in Jakarta yesterday, August 25.

Hasanuddin has called on state institutions work with the National Police to expose the actors behind Saracen Group.
Hasnuddin also reminded the National Police not to hesitate to arrest the intellectual actors and financial backers of the group. Under Law No. 19/2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions, any individual who spreads hate speech will be charged with a six-year jail term.
Earlier, the National Police arrested three members of Saracen Group, namely MFT, SRN, and JAS. Saracen had existed in the cyber world since November 2015. The group used Facebook group and websites to spread hate speeches and hoaxes.
