TEMPO.CO, Subang - West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Anton Charliyan said that West Java is a center for radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia. “As evidenced by an act of terror in Cicendo [Bandung City], all of the 30 suspects were from West Java,” he told reporters Wednesday, August 23, in Subang.
Radicalism and terrorism, according to Anton, need to be seriously handled and mitigated not only by the police but also the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), the National Armed Forces (TNI), community figures, religious figures and the community themselves.
The two-star officer said that aside from radicalism and terrorism, the police also continue to crack down on the seeds of religious intolerance and anti-Pancasila mass organizations.
West Java Police chief Anton Charliyan also pointed out the risks of radicalism, terrorism, intolerance and anti-Pancasila mass organization in West Java have escalated by a similar rate, adding that comprehensive measures are needed.
