TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A former CIA agent launched a US$1 billion (Rp13.3 trillion) fundraising campaign to buy Twitter, with the ultimate goal of closing the account of US President Donald Trump.
As reported by USA Today, Thursday, August 24, 2017, Valerie Plame Wilson,a former CIA operative, admitted she is disgusted with Trump’s tweets that she values full of violence and hatred.
She launched the fundraising campaign through GoFundMe. "If @Twitter executives won’t shut down Trump’s violence and hate, then it's up to us.” Wilson tweeted with the hashtags #BuyTwitter and #BanTrump.

Wilson said that Trump has done a lot of bad things through his account on Twitter. "From promoting white supremacists to spreading violence against journalists," Wilson wrote on her campaign page.
The woman left the CIA in 2005 after her identity was leaked to the media by an official in the George W. Bush administration in 2003. Her disclosure of her identity was in an attempt to discredit her husband Joe Wilson, a former diplomat who criticized the Bush administration over the invasion of Iraq.
The fund-raising campaign to buy social media has generated US$8,500 or is still far from the US$1 billion target. If the target is not met, Wilson plans to use the money raised to buy Twitter shares and influence the company's policy to close Donald Trump's account.
