TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) has held the second trial of the N219 aircraft on the runway of Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung to mark the 41st anniversary of the company.
The Indonesian-made N219 aircraft took off at the airport at 9:15 am local time and flew over Bandung City before landing at 10 am.
PT DI Director Budi Santoso said that the successful trial of the aircraft proves that Indonesia has the capability to design, test, certify and manufacture aircraft.

“There was no technical assistance from foreign nations. Years of hard work, ideas of Indonesian engineers,” he said today.
The prototype of the aircraft has undergone a set of tests, namely wing static test, landing gear drop test, functional test engine off, medium speed taxi, high-speed taxi, and hopping.
A set of tests, analysis and endurance did not only include air worthiness tests but also the completion of 3,000 flight cycles in the fatigue test or from the first time the engine was started unit it landed and being parked.
Earlier on August 16, the N219 aircraft developed by PT Dirgantara Indonesia and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) was trialed and successfully flown for the first time. However, before being marketed, the aircraft will undergo a series of tests before securing an airworthiness certificate.
