TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several interesting events worth noting took place during Indonesia’s Independence Day celebration a few days ago on August 17.
First, Google and Facebook featured Indonesia’s Independence Day on their websites. The celebration of the Independence Day was even merrier by the indie music website Bandcamp that featured Grow Rich’s ‘Cash to Kyodo’ single on its front page in the ‘New & Notable’ category.
Grow Rich is a music project created by Tempo’s social media staff, Abdur Rahim Latada. Bandcamp is notoriously popular among musicians and fans of the indie music genre, including those in Indonesia. Other well-known local musicians who promote their music through the website were Dewa Bujana, Dwiki Dharmawan, and Tohpati.

According to the Wolfram Alpha report, Bandcamp manages to generate around 13 million page views each day. Bandcamp claims that it is able to collect a US$5.9 million turnover from album sales.
Bandcamp describes Cash to Kyodo as fuzzy, poppy indie rock in the Dinosaur Jr. tradition from Indonesia. Abdur Rahim said that he could not be more thrilled that the music he created was featured on the website, especially on the same day the whole country celebrated the Independence Day.
Cash to Kyodo is available to listen to at growrich.bandcamp.com.
