TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representative (DPR) supports energy policy including fuel and electricity for the people, which is currently implemented by President Joko Widodo.
The house's Commission VII deputy chairman Satya Widya Yudha said in Jakarta on Friday, August 18, that government policy, which implements one-price fuel policy especially for Papua and remote areas, requires close attention.
"The DPR's Commission VII will continue to closely monitor the implementation to ensure distortion against regulation does not take place," he commented as a response to 2018 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) proposed by President Joko Widodo in his speech in the DPR building on Wednesday.
Satya stated that one-price fuel policy can either apply subsidy mechanism or delegate the operation to state-owned energy company PT Pertamina, which requires Pertamina to take major efficiency measures to maximize profit. He also suggested cross subsidy to support the policy.
In terms of electricity, he commended the government’s target to increase electricity access ratio to 92.26 percent in the next three years. Furthermore, he also supports the use of renewable energy (EBT) as a source of electricity.
