TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Megawati Soekarnoputri demanded people to not carelessly address President Joko Widodo or Jokowi as a dictator. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle' (PDIP) chairperson stated that those people need to provide proof for such a statement.
"If some people consider Jokowi a dictator, the question is whether these people can prove such a statement," Megawati said on Saturday, August 12.

Mega claims that Jokowi’s actions do not reflect those of a dictator. She exemplified that during his term as a Mayor in Solo, he displaced people’s houses through dialogues.
Jokowi had responded to this accusation by explaining that there is no such thing as an absolute power. "Institutions like the press, media, non-profit organizations and House of Representatives and even the people can directly monitor everything," Jokowi said last month.
Jokowi expressed such a thought as a response to Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Gerindra Party chairman the day before stating that they will watch over the government to ensure that there is no abuse of power.
