TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Indonesia has appointed actress Raline Shah as its independent commissioner. The decision was based on shareholders' desire to bring the airline closer to the younger generation.
"We want to stay relevant and close to the youth and the millennial generation. With Raline, we will be able to achieve that," AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes said in a written statement.

Raline is proud of her appointment. "I am very excited to join the big family of AirAsia," she said in Jakarta Tuesday, August 8.
Raline's presence in AirAsia Indonesia is expected to bring a new color in budget airline's commissioners' rank, as she comes from a different background from other commissioners.
"With my different backgrounds from other commissioners, I will be able to maintain my neutrality in carrying out my main duties as an Independent Commissioner," Raline Shah said.
