KPK Slaps Dumai Official with Travel Ban

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued a travel ban against an official of Dumai City, spokesman Febri Diansyah said. “Actions are being taken by an investigation team in Riau,” he said yesterday.

Febri said that a request for a travel ban has been sent to the Directorate General of Immigration. He did not reveal the name of the official subjected to the ban nor the case being investigated.

Pekanbaru Immigration Office earlier revealed that there was a request for a travel ban against Dumai Regional Secretary Muhammad Nasir.

Syafwan, the head Religious Affairs Office of Dumai City has confirmed the information. As a result, Syafwan said, Nasir could not leave Indonesia for hajj on Saturday.

Muhammad Nasir did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He was inaugurated as the regional secretary of Dumai City in February. Earlier, he served as Public Works Office head of Bengkalis District, Riau.
