TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An international concert featuring US-based progressive metal band Dream Theater will be held in Yogyakarta on September 29, 2017.
Promoter Rajawali Indonesia Communication calls the event JogjaRockarta International Music Festival 2017. Local bands that will participate in the festival include Godbless, Power Metal, Death Vomit, and Kelompok Penerbang Roket.
“Fans from other countries will come and see the band performing,” Rawali Indonesia Communication CEO Anas Syahrul Alimi said on Friday.
Dream Theater will perform for the third time in Indonesia. Back in 2012, the band went the stage at Mata Elang International Stadium in Ancol, North Jakarta. In 2014, the band perform at Senayan, Central Jakarta.
JogjaRockarta project director Bakkar Wibowo said that two stages will be set for the festival. A stage will be dedicated for Indonesian bands, and another one will be used by Dream Theater.
“We’re collaborating with artists in Yogyakarta to set the stages. We want to boast artworks. This city is the capital city of Indonesian fine arts,” Bakkar said.
As many as 2,000 tickets were sold out during the presale on August 3. The organizing committee prepared as many as 15,000 tickets for various classes. Regular tickets have been available starting from August 4, 2017.
