Actor Tora Sudiro Arrested on Drug Charges

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Actor Tora Sudiro and his wife Mieke Amalia have been arrested on drug charges. The couple consumed Dumolid pills that contain nitrazepam, a dangerous psychotropic drug.

“He said that he (Tora Sudiro) [had used the drug] to treat sleep problems,” South Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit director Vivick Tjangkung told Tempo today, August 3.

Vivick explained that Tora and Mieke were arrested at their home in South Tangerang around 10 o’clock.

The police have seized 30 Dumolid pills, a type of drugs that have gained popularity among Indonesian celebrities of late.

So far, Tora Sudiro and Mieke Amalia have been tested positive for Dumolid use. The police, however, will need to carry out lab tests to find out the substance contained in the medicine. The results of lab tests are due by tomorrow.
