TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nan Jombang Dance Company from West Sumatra will perform a dance entitled Sangketo Hawa at the Kaba Festival 4 which will be held on August 2-5.
Kaba Festival 4 is organized in order to facilitate artists to showcase their works, in the form of music, dance and drama that will be held in West Sumatra Cultural Park.
"Sangketo Hawa will be featured on the last day of the festival, which is on August 5, 2017," said Nan Jombang Dance Company choreographer Ery Mefri in Padang, Monday, August 1.
At Festival Kaba 2 in 2015, Ery and his group also participated by bringing the work entitled Sang Hawa.
According to him, despite having a similar title, Sang Hawa and Sangketo Hawa are two different works, in terms of narration and from the composition of dance.
"But these works are something that is interconnected, one that is more glamorous on the outside and the other shows more on the inside," he says.
He explains his interest in this work because the word Hawa (translating into Eve), has so much meaning; besides being the first woman on earth, the mother of all mothers, Hawa is also interpreted as a moving wind and also a symbol of desire.
The affirmation of the hawa will be reflected in the narration of Sangketo Hawa. Two female dancers with different motion patterns, two distinct sound patterns, but are actually mirrors of a single self.
"I realize that the search about Hawa will not find a solution, it will not be finished on earth, only an affirmation," he explained.
The Director of Kaba Festival Angga Djamar mentions Kaba Festival 4 event will involve many local and international artists. "In addition to artists from outside West Sumatra, there will also be some artists who come from abroad, such as the Netherlands and Taiwan," he said.
