TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Your child is starting to look fat or even obese? If yes, remember they should not undergo certain dietary patterns. Then how should they return to their ideal weight?
Nutrition and metabolic specialist from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) Dr. Damayanti R. Sjarif Sp. A (K) says we should restore the healthy diet of children; three times a day with healthy and balanced nutrition intake.
Then, for snack foods, he suggests choosing fruits in whole form, not juice.
"If gaining weight, the child should not undergo a diet. Give your child a normal diet. For Snack, give them fruit - avoid giving them juice. Cut the fruit into pieces. If you cut it into pieces, for example, one apple will be a snack. If it is juiced the child will drink five apples," said Damayanti in a health talk show in Jakarta on Monday, July 31.
And do not forget to make sure your child is doing enough physical activity.
She reminded parents to pay attention to children's food intake, especially in their first 1000 days of their life (pregnancy plus two years after birth), because this will affect their adulthood.
"The brain grows in the first 1000 days. In 1000 days, the ability for children to see, develop math skills, communication, emotions, and motoric development occur," added Damayanti.
