TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the government will accelerate transport infrastructure development in Solo.

“I have come to Solo under President Jokowi’s instruction to improve tourism potential [of regions] other than Yogyakarta and Bali,” Budi said in an official statement received today.

With regard to land transportation, Budi has instructed local officials to maximize the use of type A bus terminal Tirtonadi, which is connected with Solo Balapan Station.

Budi added that he expects the construction of a railway project between Adi Soemarmo Aiport Train Station and Solo Balapan Station will be completed in the next ten months.

As for air transport, Budi said that the capacity of Adi Somearmo Aiport will be increased. The airport terminal’s floor area will be widened by 2,000 square meters from the initial 13,000 square meters and is expected to complete by December. The terminal area will be further improved to 26,000 square meters by April 2019.

Moreover, Adi Somarmo Airport runway will be extended by 400 long and 45 meters wide. The transport infrastrcture development project is expected to be completed by October 2019. “Extension of runway to 3000 meters must be done to allow wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 777 to land at Adi Soemarmo,” Budi said.
