Beginning on August 21, Garuda Will Serve New Route to Banyuwangi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia will serve the direct flight of Jakarta-Banyuwangi route from 21 August 2017. The return flight on the route will be serviced once a day using the next-generation 9600 CRG Bombardier CRJ plane.
Quoted from the press release of PT Garuda Indonesia, Sunday, July 30, 2017, the Jakarta-Banyuwangi route will be served with GA 264 flight departing from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta at 14.15 WIB. Scheduled, the flight will arrive at Blimbingsari Airport Banyuwangi at 15:55. The flight from Banyuwangi to Jakarta will be served with GA 265 which departs from Banyuwangi at 17.00 WIB, and will arrive in Jakarta at 18:40.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Pahala N. Mansury, said the Jakarta-Banyuwangi route will make it easier for tourists to explore other cities around Banyuwangi, such as Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo and Lumajang, East Java.
"Banyuwangi is the fourth city in East Java province that we serve after the cities of Surabaya, Malang and Jember. We hope that with the choice of routes to various cities in East Java will further drive and improve the local economy, "said Pahala.

In 2016, he said, the number of foreign tourists who came to Banyuwangi reached 60,000 people from a total of 2 million travelers in Indonesia. "We are confident that the opening of Jakarta - Banyuwangi route will further enhance and develop tourism potential in the city dubbed The Sunrise of Java.
The Jakarta - Banyuwangi flight completes the Banyuwangi - Denpasar flight route by transit via Surabaya, which previously existed. This route is served twice daily with a 70 seat type ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Banyuwangi which is the location of the Garuda expansion has an area of about 5,782.50 sq km. Geographically, it is the widest district in East Java and is located in a wild and wild nature tourist area just like a safari in Africa. "Thus, there is a unification of tourist sites that can be visited, namely beaches and mountains such as Plengkung Beach, Pulau Pulau Merah, Baluran National Park, Ijen Crater and Rogo Jampi Park," said Pahala.
In July 2017, Garuda Indonesia has served new routes to several cities in eastern Indonesia, such as Makassar - Raha in Muna District, South Sulawesi, and Kendari - Bau Bau route in Southeast Sulawesi. Both routes are served by aircraft type ATR 72-600 with a capacity of 70 seats.
