Garuda Indonesia Opens Jakarta - Banyuwangi Route on August 21

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will open new daily flight route between Jakarta and Banyuwangi on August 21 Agustus using Bombardier CRJ 1000 NextGen aircraft with a capacity of 96 seats.
Garuda Indonesia CEO Pahala N. Mansury said that Jakarta – Banyuwangi route will facilitate tourists to explore other cities around Banyuwangi, such as Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo and Lumajang, East Java.
“Banyuwangi will be the fourth city in the province of East Java which will be served after Surabaya, Malang and Jember. We expect that more routes to cities in East Java will drive and improve local economies,” Pahala said.

In 2016, he said, some 60,000 out of 2 million tourists arrived in Indonesia visited Banyuwangi. “We are confident that the opening of Jakarta – Banyuwangi route will improve and develop tourism potential in the city called The Sunrise of Java.”
The flight between Jakarta and Banyuwangi will be established following Banyuwangi – Denpasar route that transits in Surabaya.
Banyuwangi, the largest district in East Java, is home to natural tourist attractions similar to those of Africa. “As such, some tourist destinations that can be visited include beaches and mountainous regions such as Plengkung Beach, Pulau Merah Beach, Baluran National Park, Ijen Crater and Rogo Jampi Tourism Park,” Pahala said.
Starting July, Garuda Indonesia has also opened new flight routes between eastern Indonesia cities, including Makassar - Raha in South Sulawesi and Kendari - Bau Bau v.v. in Southeast Sulawesi.
