TEMPO.CO, Palangka Raya - Palangka Raya Education Agency head Sahdin Hasan said that 7 public elementary schools in Palangka Raya caught fire in a period of nine days and it caused 700 students lose a place to study.
"The students are temporarily relocated to a number of other schools in Palangka Raya while waiting for the restoration of the school buildings," Sahdin said in Palangka Raya on Sunday (30/7).
Currently, coordination is taking place among a number of institutions to rebuild the schools. "We have report the incident to Education Ministry and their team came yesterday to visit the schools," he explained.
For a short term solution, his agency has proposed the schools’ construction to be included into 2018 Regional Budget to Palangka Raya Legislative Council. In addition, Palangka Raya Mayor Riban Satia claimed that it is difficult to rebuild schools since it involves high cost.
