TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will question the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto as a suspect in the e-KTP graft case.
Investigators will be digging deeper into the Golkar Party chairman’s alleged misuse of authority as DPR member in the budgeting process of the Rp5.9 trillion project. “We will announce the details about the schedule of questioning the suspect and witnesses,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said yesterday, July 27.

KPK had planned to question Setya Novanto for the first time this week. Since early last week, investigators had only examined several witnesses and two convicts in the electronic ID cards (e-KTP) case, Irman and Sugiharto, as well as suspect Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong.
The KPK has also filed for a travel ban on Setya Novanto’s nephew Irvanto Hendra Pambudi. Earlier in a trial session, Irvanto was mentioned as the director of a consortium that won the auction of the e-KTP project.
Setya’s defense lawyer Firman Wijaya said that his client will file a pretrial motion with South Jakarta District Court. He criticized KPK’s judgments in naming his client a suspect.
